Vacancies
Taskforce Kiwi is currently recruiting for volunteer leadership roles within the organisation, to help grow our capability and impact for both volunteers and communities.
National Volunteer Experience Manager
Our volunteers are the heart and soul of Taskforce Kiwi, and our most precious resource. The National Volunteer Experience Manager (NVEM) will play a leading role in supporting and enabling our volunteers, which in turn will allow Taskforce Kiwi to undertake our disaster relief operations at home and abroad. At the same time, the NVEM will lead our volunteer engagement, working with the rest of the leadership team to ensure our volunteers are provided with a sense of purpose, identity and community as members of Taskforce Kiwi.
Volunteer Support Officer
The Volunteer Support Officer (VSO) will work directly alongside the National Volunteer Experience Manager (NVEM) to support and enable our volunteers, contributing to the smooth running of the volunteer experience function and, in turn, enabling Taskforce Kiwi to undertake our disaster relief operations at home and abroad. The VSO plays a key supporting role in the day-to-day administration, coordination and engagement activities that keep our volunteers informed, prepared and connected. By taking on focused tasks delegated by the NVEM, the VSO helps ensure that every member of Taskforce Kiwi has a positive, well-supported and rewarding experience as a volunteer.
National Aerial Mapping Manager
The National Aerial Mapping Manager will build and lead Taskforce Kiwi’s unmanned aerial system (UAS) capability, establishing drone-based aerial assessment as a core tool in TFK’s disaster response toolkit. This role will be building on the work done to date, continuing to develop and strengthen the capability to gather actionable intelligence at home and abroad.
Chainsaw Capability Lead
The Chainsaw Capability Lead will build and oversee Taskforce Kiwi’s chainsaw capability, ensuring it is a safe, well-trained, and deployment-ready function within TFK’s broader disaster response toolkit. Chainsaw operations are frequently among the most immediate needs following severe weather events, storms, and earthquakes, while at the same time being one of the more high risk activities undertaken by TFK volunteers. This role will ensure the capability remains safe and effective.
Plant Capability Lead
The Plant Capability Lead will build and oversee Taskforce Kiwi’s heavy plant and machinery operations capability, establishing it as a safe, well-trained, and deployment-ready function within TFK’s disaster response toolkit. The ability to operate excavators, loaders, bulldozers, and other heavy plant is often critical in the immediate aftermath of a disaster, clearing slips and debris, restoring road access, moving heavy materials, and supporting relief efforts in ways that no other capability can replicate.
National Communications Manager
Our volunteers do incredible work in the community, and it is vital that we tell their story. The National Communications Manager (NCM) will be responsible for shaping the narrative around our work, raising our profile to ensure that our volunteers receive the recognition they deserve, while at the same time helping to drive recruitment, engagement and fundraising, all of which will increase the organisations impact. This includes during operational deployments, making the most of the momentum gained by Taskforce Kiwi volunteers in the field to run communications campaigns to support our work at home and abroad. This work will span the media ecosystem, including print, radio, TV, and digital communications.
Social Media Manager
At Taskforce Kiwi we’ve got a great story to tell, and as our Social Media Manager you’ll be our voice across our digital channels. You will create and share engaging content that tells our story, grows our community, and keeps our supporters informed and inspired. This is a rewarding volunteer role for someone who loves storytelling, understands online audiences, and wants to contribute their skills to a cause they believe in.
Deployed Logistics Lead
The Deployed Logistics Team Leader ensures that TFK personnel, equipment, and humanitarian materiel are in the right place, at the right time, and in the right condition to meet operational requirements across the full spectrum of disaster relief activities. Working with a variety of international partners, this role is a key aspect of TFK’s international humanitarian response capability, providing much need support in austere environments and time-critical situations.
Medical Logistics Coordinator
When Taskforce Kiwi deploys, the effectiveness of the medical support that we provide to our volunteers depends on having the right equipment, in the right place, at the right time. The Medical Logistics Coordinator (MLC) plays a critical enabling role in ensuring Taskforce Kiwi’s medical capability is maintained, deployable, and fit for purpose. Working within the National Medical Team, the MLC is responsible for the stewardship of Taskforce Kiwi’s medical equipment, consumables, and pharmaceuticals. This includes inventory management, maintenance and servicing, replenishment, expiry tracking, and ensuring our medical stores meet relevant regulatory and clinical standards.
Operational Support Officer
The Operations Support Officer (OSO) will provide focused, practical support to the National Operations Manager (NOM), helping to ensure the smooth running of Taskforce Kiwi’s operational functions. Working approximately 5 hours per week, the OSO will assist with the invaluable administrative and coordination tasks that underpin TFK’s readiness and deployment capability. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to contribute meaningfully to a volunteer emergency response organisation in a structured, behind-the-scenes support capacity
